- In the back drop of fast changing developments at national level and emerging private media PBC launched National Broadcasting Service as a dedicated current affairs channel on August 28‚ 2008.
- Previously news and current affairs programmes were broadcast from its different Stations having limited duration.
- The year 2007 witnessed many upheavals such as judicial crises‚ political turmoil‚ assassination of Mohtarama Benazir Bhutto and later holding of national elections in Feb 2008.
- This national scenario prompted PBC to play a pro-active role in dissemination of news and information to the masses and projection of national objectives.
- After the formation of democratically elected government it was all the more important to give wider coverage to the vision and plans of the government in its true perspective.
- NBS was launched by integrating five powerful medium waves transmitters in a network to ensure maximum coverage.
- NBS has Seventeen hours daily transmission from 7 am to 12 midnight.
- NBS programmes originate from Islamabad and provincial capitals.
- Programmes originating from provincial capitals are also broadcast on the network of respective provinces.
